How it works
How South Shore HVAC Finder Works
We're a referral service that connects South Shore homeowners with independent heating and cooling contractors. Here's how it works, and how the site is paid for.
- Independent local HVAC contractors
- You pay the pro you hire, never us
- How to check a Massachusetts license
Step by step
Three Steps To A Local HVAC Contractor
Read The Guide
Start with the service or town guide that matches your problem, so you know what's urgent and what to ask.
Call Or Send A Request
Tell us your town and what's going on with your heating or cooling system.
Talk With The Contractor
You're connected with an independent local HVAC contractor who serves your town, and you discuss the job and timing directly with them.
Verify And Decide
Look up the license, ask about insurance and permits, get the estimate in writing, and hire only if it suits you.
A Referral Service, Not A Contractor
South Shore HVAC Finder doesn't install, repair, or maintain heating and cooling equipment. We publish local guides and connect homeowners with independent HVAC contractors who serve their towns.
Those contractors are separate businesses. They set their own prices, schedules, and terms, and they're responsible for their own work. We don't inspect their work or stand behind it, and we can't promise any particular result.
How The Site Is Paid For
Homeowners don't pay to use the site. It's paid for by the businesses on the other end of the call: some contractors pay to be the contact listed for a town, and in other cases we may be paid a referral fee when your call reaches a contractor.
Either way, you're never obligated to hire anyone you speak with, and you pay only the contractor you choose, based on the estimate you agree to.
Your Part: Check, Compare, And Decide
Because contractors are independent, checking them is up to you. Massachusetts has no single HVAC license, so ask for the credential that matches your job: a gas fitter license for gas work, a Department of Fire Services certificate for oil burners, or a sheet metal license for ductwork, and look it up on the state sites.
Ask for proof of insurance, find out who will pull the permits, and get a written estimate before work starts. Our Learning Center has checklists for each step.
Your Information
When you send a request, we use your details to connect you with a contractor about that request. We don't sell your information. The Privacy Policy explains what's collected and how it's handled.

Questions
Questions About How It Works
Still not sure? Send a short request and a local pro can answer the specifics.
Are the contractors employees of South Shore HVAC Finder?
No. Every contractor is an independent business. We don't employ, supervise, or train them.
How does South Shore HVAC Finder make money?
Contractors pay us, not homeowners. Some pay to be listed as the contact for a town, and we may receive a referral fee when a call connects. You pay only the contractor you hire.
Do you check contractors' licenses?
No. We show you how to check them yourself on the official Massachusetts lookups, which takes about a minute and is worth doing before any work starts.
Will you sell my phone number or email?
No. We use your contact details to connect you about your request, and we don't sell them.
